Best Solid Stain For T1 11 Siding
My wife and i are looking at t1 11 for siding.
Best solid stain for t1 11 siding. Pros and cons of plywood and t1 11 siding the good and the problems you may encounter. Both behr s solid and transparent stains are self priming. Keep in mind that the stain should penetrate completely into the wood. Plywood t1 11 accepts stain well and takes on a grainy appearance that blends well in rural surroundings.
I was told that i could stain it but to use the stain in combonation with polyurethane to give. The back side is better left unpainted. Ft to my home. Is semi trans stain even a good idea for t1 11 siding.
The sun and water beat down on a deck snow can pile up. The best stains should last three to five years on a deck and even longer if applied to siding or fences which don t get as much abuse. If 15 minutes after application there is still stain sitting on the surface of the wood remove it with a dry paint brush. In terms of looks i prefer the solid stain or paint appearance this is not cedar t g here.
Properly primed then painted painted t1 11 siding will be similar to any other siding for longevity. A typical semi transparent stain lasts 1 2 years a solid colored stain last longer but will need recoating in 4 5 years tops. I ve been thinking that a semi transparent exterior stain would be nice on the shed that i m building with t1 11 siding but i ve never used an exterior stain and it sounds like they sometimes are not very durable. While back priming has proven to be useful to control tannin staining with some types of solid wood siding trim and some composite sidings lp smartside products are not intended to be back primed.
However in the long run you will get better performance from the solid hide stains. Stains can look good but don t last as long as paint. However my main concern is durability and mold resistance of the finish. It is a budget project so t1 11 will be the siding.
I am in the middle of adding 1000 sq. Rogerd t1 11 is nothing more than a a rough surfaced exterior grade plywood. Therefore do not prime the back side of the siding or trim. While it s tough to do it s not impossible to over apply stain to your t111 siding.
I am currently considering translucent stain solid stain and paint. Types of paint to use.
